Yea, I said it. I. Cut. My. Hair. Well, if you’ve read my previous posts then you know my frustrations from transitioning STILL after so many years. You see, for the most part, heat damage had set in and it was making me become impatient. So I headed over to Target and bought my own sheers.
Now I could have gone to the salon and had it professionally done, but I felt like doing it myself. Saved some money and time. No worries, I still love getting my hair did but I just needed to take care of this ASAP.
After reading an article about cutting your own hair and the techniques to use, I felt it was ok for me to do so. As you can see I took small sections of my hair and issued two strand twists throughout. Then I went through and clipped about 2 inches from each twist.
Below you’ll find my ends….RIP.
It turned out ok…a bit uneven but that was expected. I started going through it all to try and even it out some but when I started noticing it was getting shorter than I wanted. I said “girl, stop.” I mean before I started, I told myself to not bet on it being even and we can hide it with curls for a while. So I put the scissors down and finished my Sunday, wash-day routine.
Since this trimming, I’ve been wearing a twist out and it’s suiting me very well. Also, my curls are more defined now that a lot of the dead ends have been chopped. The front section of my hair is still pretty damaged, so I’ll be working on fixing that and we should be good to go with a wash ‘n go some time soon.
Well that’s all for now. Make sure to follow the blog and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter at @_curlyncurvy. See ya next time. Deuces!!!
