I Cut My Hair.

Yea, I said it. I. Cut. My. Hair. Well, if you’ve read my previous posts then you know my frustrations from transitioning STILL after so many years. You see, for the most part, heat damage had set in and it was making me become impatient. So I headed over to Target and bought my own sheers.

Now I could have gone to the salon and had it professionally done, but I felt like doing it myself. Saved some money and time. No worries, I still love getting my hair did but I just needed to take care of this ASAP.

After reading an article about cutting your own hair and the techniques to use, I felt it was ok for me to do so. As you can see I took small sections of my hair and issued two strand twists throughout. Then I went through and clipped about 2 inches from each twist.

Below you’ll find my ends….RIP.

It turned out ok…a bit uneven but that was expected. I started going through it all to try and even it out some but when I started noticing it was getting shorter than I wanted. I said “girl, stop.” I mean before I started, I told myself to not bet on it being even and we can hide it with curls for a while. So I put the scissors down and finished my Sunday, wash-day routine.

Since this trimming, I’ve been wearing a twist out and it’s suiting me very well. Also, my curls are more defined now that a lot of the dead ends have been chopped. The front section of my hair is still pretty damaged, so I’ll be working on fixing that and we should be good to go with a wash ‘n go some time soon.

Loving Fall

20141013-011522-4522294.jpgOne thing you all should know about me is that I am a fall baby and I love everything this season has to offer. With fall rituals like picking apples, going to football games and searching for new boots, the fall season has so much to offer that I enjoy. Now that we are well into my favorite season I want to share with you a great outfit that I put together.

For a night out with some friends, I sought out an ensemble that was cute, comfy and had a great pop of color. I started with these raspberry colored jeans that I purchased from Forever21 a few years ago. These jeans a very soft with a great stretch and good skinny leg. Sometimes I come across skinny jeans that have a wide ankle which can ruin the look of an outfit but these just right.

The color is no longer available but you can find some other colors that pop with their current collection here. At this time they only have it available in the short length but if you visit their store or check back later I’m sure you’ll find it in regular and tall lengths.

I paired it with a top that I also found at Forever21. This cream colored blouse works as a great contrast with the jeans. I also think it’s a good investment that I can wear during any season to dress up any look. It may still be available in the store, but if not maybe you can use this H&M alternative instead.

So the shoes have to be my favorite piece from my outfit. They were purchased from Payless and are apart of their ComfortPlus collection. I like these shoes because the heel isn’t as high and they are designed with great comfort without compromising the style. I chose nude which flows with my outfit but they come in other colors and are currently on sale.

Well that’s just a start to more of my favorite fall looks. I’ll be back with more to share so be sure to check back next time. Take care everyone!

Beachy!

Hey there good lookin!! I’m so sorry for my absence, but I’m back. I took some time to reevaluate this blog and after some encouragement I’m pushing forward. Since summer has begun, I’ve decided to return with a review of some swimwear.

The unofficial kick off to the summer season is the Memorial Day holiday weekend. To celebrate, I took a mini vacay in Myrtle Beach. It was bike week but to take a break from roars of the motorcycles, we spent some time on the beautiful beach and I made sure to find a bathing suit that was fabulous as the view.

Making sure I bought a suit that was fitting for me, I checked out Forever21. I found this Retro Halter in rose. The color went well with my skin tone which was great because finding complementing tones is important, especially swimwear.

This one piece was great. The halter was great because it of course allowed me to adjust my support. There was a lot of wiring but I think it was necessary to make sure everything stayed in place.

Hey look, I made sure my toes matched. Don’t they look beachy?

Well that’s all for now. Summer is a great time for style and it’s going to be a challenge for my STILL transitioning hair. There’s been some improvement by the way but that’s talk for another post. Bye-bye.

LBD: Look 1

They always say, “you can never have too many pairs of jeans.” Well you know what else you can’t have too much of? A little black dress. It’s just as simple, always looks great and it can be just diverse as your favorite pair of jeans.

I’d like to start a special series within this blog dedicated to our beloved LBD’s. I noticed that I have plenty myself so I’d like to share the many ways that I wear them.

20140218-141638.jpg

I wore this little number from Forever21 a few weeks ago at a black & gold themed party. I like the long sleeves and if the lighting wasn’t so bad you could see the detail of the asymmetrical point in the front. I paired it with a gold link necklace and my favorite black and gold Coach watch. The looks was completed with black suede Jennifer Lopez heels that I purchased from Khol’s a few years ago.

Forever21 no longer has this dress available, but you can purchase a similar LBD here.

Well that’s the look for now. Deuces!!

It’s cold out there.

Hello there everyone!! I hope you all are bundling up and keeping warm. Do know that although it’s necessary to pile on the layers that doesn’t mean you can’t layer with style. If I’ve learned to do so, you can to. Here’s a recent example of my winter style.

20140115-115536.jpg

Now everyday basics are the key for any style and for the most part I collect mine from Old Navy. Their items are wearable at any size and are appropriate for any occasion. I recently purchased this v-neck, striped sweater dress in navy. Currently it is on clearance and they are offering and additional amount off clearance items. But you have to hurry because the offer and dress won’t last.

20140115-120355.jpg

I paired the dress with a basic pair of navy blue leggings that I purchased from Forever 21. I have several pairs of these leggings, that are offered in an assortment of colors, which I find convenient for my everyday style.

To complete the look, I zipped up these Unisa Toshio boots I got from DSW. These brown boots have been a complete lifesaver for me this winter. They’ve kept me warm and they go with everything, and yes I pair them with black ensembles, I’ll discuss that in another post. The stretch material is an added benefit for my wide calves as well.

20140115-121523.jpg

Now if you like you can add flair to this look with a wide belt around the waist or a simple necklace. I’m currently working on my accessories skills and when I get it together I’ll share some ideas with you.

So that’s it for now. I’ll see you next time. Deuces!!

One more time.

Greetings everyone!! Ok, I know…I’m late. I’m waaay late. But it’s cool, right? Well let’s just get back into it before the calendar changes…well for my timezone at least.

So, before I get into a regular pattern for this blog, I want to discuss 2 more subjects that I’ll be covering from time to time. Now I can’t really call myself a fashionista because I consider them experts and I’m far from that. But I do appreciate a great outfit either from myself or others, and I love to play with fashion. I was told sometime ago that I should work on creating my signature style because apparently I know a thing or two and I think this blog will help me do so. Well, I do take pride in the combinations that create given my size. But really it’s not that difficult now because there are more choices for the full figured lady.

So as I’ve said, I like to play around with my fashion and plan on sharing it with you all. Now please enjoy some of my best looks from the past.

20131231-221958.jpg

Also, nothing makes me feel more relaxed than a good mani/pedi. I love this whole gel movement and I’ve just learned that I can possibly have nail art with gel polish. So just like the other subjects I’ve mentioned, I’ll be sharing my fancy nails with you all as well. Now unfortunately, I do not know the names or brands of the colors that I have in this picture. So at this time I’ll refer to the pink polish as #75 and the red as #77. Sorry but at least I know which number to request when I go to the salon. But I will work on providing the full details in the future.

Hey guys, have a happy and safe New Year!! I look forward to everything I want to share with you and I just think it’s going to be a great time. See you all next year!!
