Hey guys!! So as the hashtag suggests I got my hair did (sorry for the improper grammar but it fits.) As I stated before, I wanted to have two inches cut off to help quickly get rid of those damaged ends. So what do you think?
I’m not sure if two inches was a lot or if someone was a little “scissor happy,” but it’s shorter than I expected. I’m not too concerned because more than likely I’m closer to my goal.
My scalp is a little dry and it may be due to the changing season. Since my hair was flat ironed and I won’t have to tend to it as much this week, I’ll be focusing on this dry scalp issue I’m having. It’ll be a great use of time to find what works best with the winter coming soon.
One thing I also want to try out is different hairstyles for this straight hair. My goal is to find styles that use little to no heat. For example, using my flexirods to add more curls.
I may post again throughout the week so stay tuned to see what I’ve come up with. Ok guys talk to you later. 😉
P.S. Don’t judge me for my eyebrows. I’m trying to let them grow in to get a better shape…. #theStruggle
Greetings!! So at this time I’d like to give you all a little update on my journey. Again, this is my third attempt at going natural and it’s been since summer of 2010 that I had my last chemical treatment which was a texturizer. A few months into my journey I experienced disappointment as my curls just weren’t coming in like I wanted but at this point I’m starting to show improvement.
Ta da!! This is the result of scaling back on heat styling and low manipulation maintenance and styling. At the start of my journey I flat ironed my hair…A LOT!! It took me a while to realize that this was causing a great deal of damage to my hair. So I put the iron down and moved forward with curly styles.
My favorite hairstyle would be my signature. I spoke on how I obtained these wonderful curls in a preivous post. It was great but I think it pulled my hair too tight (maybe that was my fault) and I believe this caused damage as well. So I had to let it go for a while and find something less harmful.
Earlier this year, I began practicing flat twist styling which seemed to work. Now I must admit my flat twist skills aren’t that great but it got the job done. I’ll discuss my technique in a future post. With this styling method along with fingered detangling, I began to see my curls become more and more visible.
Here’s a better look at my progress. There are more few inches that I need to get rid of before I feel comfortable with wearing my natural curls. I’ll be getting two inches cut off this weekend and if I continue with a good trim each month I should be good to go early next year.
I wanted to quickly show you a better view of my progress. Here you can really see the line of demarcation as my curls become more defined. In case you don’t know, the line of demarcation is where my curly hair and straight hair meet. Now that the line is more prominent, I have to take special care of this area making sure nothing breaks or snaps off.
At one point I wanted to give up and just do a big chop, but those who knew me knew I probably wouldn’t like my hair that short and encouraged me to keep going. I’m glad I listened and stuck with my journey. I have just a little bit more to go and like I said, I should be ready to wear my curls out in a few months. Well I’ll be sure to keep you all posted. See ya!!
One thing you all should know about me is that I am a fall baby and I love everything this season has to offer. With fall rituals like picking apples, going to football games and searching for new boots, the fall season has so much to offer that I enjoy. Now that we are well into my favorite season I want to share with you a great outfit that I put together.
For a night out with some friends, I sought out an ensemble that was cute, comfy and had a great pop of color. I started with these raspberry colored jeans that I purchased from Forever21 a few years ago. These jeans a very soft with a great stretch and good skinny leg. Sometimes I come across skinny jeans that have a wide ankle which can ruin the look of an outfit but these just right.
The color is no longer available but you can find some other colors that pop with their current collection here. At this time they only have it available in the short length but if you visit their store or check back later I’m sure you’ll find it in regular and tall lengths.
I paired it with a top that I also found at Forever21. This cream colored blouse works as a great contrast with the jeans. I also think it’s a good investment that I can wear during any season to dress up any look. It may still be available in the store, but if not maybe you can use this H&M alternative instead.
So the shoes have to be my favorite piece from my outfit. They were purchased from Payless and are apart of their ComfortPlus collection. I like these shoes because the heel isn’t as high and they are designed with great comfort without compromising the style. I chose nude which flows with my outfit but they come in other colors and are currently on sale.
Well that’s just a start to more of my favorite fall looks. I’ll be back with more to share so be sure to check back next time. Take care everyone!
